Bones to pick…

A man was upset with another man for some evil thing that the latter did to him.
The man who did evil died…but the man who is upset had ‘bones’ to pick. So, he kept the dead man’s corpse next to him all the time so he can pick at it whenever he wants. He has a ‘victim’ mindset and held onto the corpse, though stinky, unhygienic, meaningless…

He could not let go of the past and so the corpse became a permanent fixture in his life. Wherever he goes, the rotting corpse goes. People around him cannot see the corpse but can smell the bad odour and stayed away from him. Others quarrel with him because they think he is weird. He started to be alienated. Success eludes him as such….he kept having to proof himself, at least he thinks he has to….that he is entitled to what the dead man took from him.

He found others who did the same as he. It is like misery attracts misery….all who have a smelling corpse with them became friends…they hung out together talking about the evil deeds of the rotting corpse….drank, ranted, taking revenge on every antagonist who dares to be in their way. In the process more corpses got collected.

After some time, the burden of carrying the corpses became weary and the man with the ‘victim’ mindset stop living a healthy lifestyle. Life emptied out on him. He makes decisions concerning and considering only the immediate….not at all interested in the future. Living in the moment of ‘now’ but with the corpses has extracted so much out of him that he has no more energy to think clearly and plan clearly for the future.

This 'man' and his 'friends' are amongst our family members and friends. We cannot ignore them…we have to help them if they want to be helped.

Quotations:

God starts us out on a life course to fulfill a certain purpose and then, only when we are ready, He gives us course corrections. Like a good river pilot, He steers us away from troubled waters, and like a good coach, He never puts us in the game until we are ready. The journey is never boring.

REMEMBER THIS ABOUT YOU...

Read this out loud to yourself, and mean it!!

I am precious, valuable, lovable and capable.
The world will not be the same without me.
I make a difference in this world, in the community I live in.
I can make another person smile.
I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
I sing for I am loved by a great God whose nature is to give  love, mercy and grace.

  [In Hindi]
  Mai amulya hoon.
Yeh duniya mayray bina wahi nahin rahegi.
Mayray hone say is duniya mein kuch badlav hai.
Mujh se doosre ke chahre pay muskuraahat aati hai.
Mujhe bhayankar se banaya gaya hai.
Mujhe gaana hai ki ek mahaan; ishwhar mujhe pyaar karte.
Hain aur mayray prati daya dikhaate hain.
