All things said, every generation has its own version stereotyped characters – no unique ones.
So what is the difference? 2 major factors are different ie the parenting skill.s [mental paradigm of parents] and the technology
While the issues faced by most generations are more or less the same – Gen Y being no different, the big challenge with Gen Y is that they are all vocal and they tend to have shallow understanding – driven largely by the ‘i like’ / ‘i don’t like’ culture.
It is easier to create a herd behaviour without realising / anticipating / understanding the possible consequences. Such herd mentality is more dangerous then we know – as is often quoted ‘a little knowledge is dangerous’.
Ironically i seem to detect a strong element of fear in Gen Y, a fear within them regarding their destiny in an increasingly less ‘together’ world but there is no sign of fear when it comes to interacting with authority. Perhaps a little healthy fear of authority might help in removing the fear of the unknown.
