Outsourcing our life

Do we put the load of our life journey onto others....outsource it to them...and therefore allow external circumstances far more power than they truly have?

Our happiness has become a commodity. This was the lament of a mother / teacher in a grade school in Bangalore. Increasingly, each new generation sees everything as commodity. Everyone accepts food, clothing, vehicles, and the like as commodity. About 10-15 years ago, Education also became a commodity because people started to pursue the paper rather than knowledge acquisition, and the maturing while learning.

It seems now happiness has also become a commodity. Since it is treated as commodity, it can be ‘traded’. Relationships are also traded as commodity. Who knows what next! Our identity?

For those of us who treat happiness / relationships as commodities - something to be traded - it is no surprise then that we will also outsource it. We expect that some external parties are responsible for our happiness and we blame them whenever we are not happy.

Strange as it may sound to read it like that, but it is so prevalent amongst the young adults. I really hope for their sake that they wake up soon enough to the fact that education  / relationships / happiness are not commodities that are meant for trading. It is their own journey, their own script, their own decisions, their own maturity, and their own responsibility that will etch their future for them.

Are you outsourcing your life?

Quotations:

God starts us out on a life course to fulfill a certain purpose and then, only when we are ready, He gives us course corrections. Like a good river pilot, He steers us away from troubled waters, and like a good coach, He never puts us in the game until we are ready. The journey is never boring.

REMEMBER THIS ABOUT YOU...

Read this out loud to yourself, and mean it!!

I am precious, valuable, lovable and capable.
The world will not be the same without me.
I make a difference in this world, in the community I live in.
I can make another person smile.
I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
I sing for I am loved by a great God whose nature is to give  love, mercy and grace.

  [In Hindi]
  Mai amulya hoon.
Yeh duniya mayray bina wahi nahin rahegi.
Mayray hone say is duniya mein kuch badlav hai.
Mujh se doosre ke chahre pay muskuraahat aati hai.
Mujhe bhayankar se banaya gaya hai.
Mujhe gaana hai ki ek mahaan; ishwhar mujhe pyaar karte.
Hain aur mayray prati daya dikhaate hain.
