I am not a driver but I have sat in many cars, buses, trains etc.
A car can do wonders, take us to places far far away. Of course, other locomotives take us even further away. Just looking at the car…
A car set in the reverse gear cannot go forward. A car set in parking gear cannot move. [Referring to a manual drive], A car cannot accelerate unless there is gear shifting.
Similarly, one cannot mentally set the gear to park, reverse or slow speed, and expect that growth will happen in leaps and bounds. To see accelerated growth in our lives, we must set the gear to speed and then be on alert, and focus so that the journey will be safe and there is arrival at destination.
Grand prix drivers do not drive the same way most people drive on the road. Theirs is a very accelerated drive and they cannot do it alone. There is an entire team to ensure the drive reach destination and for that matter, reach in the shortest period of time. A loner will not be able to accomplish that.
So, it is the same with personal growth. We want the benefits of accelerated speed and movement but are we prepared to take the stress, and responsibility that come with it?
Conveniently, many drop one side of the formula and expect the thrills, on the other side, to be the same. Unfortunately, thrills come with spills. All successful people alive or dead will say the same thing – hard work and tenacity are what create the fuel that bring the acceleration. Then there are the team mates, colleagues, stakeholders, they are all important part of the grand prix winner.
No one makes it to the top alone. No one makes it to the top because they demand it from someone. No one makes it to the top just thinking and talking about it. No one makes it to the top because they are great.
I am willing to be proven wrong……:)
