It is hard to pen down the events of my June trip to Bangalore, for various reasons. So much to share, experiences of which words cannot adequately convey, and a tidal wave of deadlines upon my return. It is a good thing that completing deadlines does not make a person dead!
Well let’s start with the flying / travelling logistics bit. I took Tiger Airways, being a budget airline, I had 15 kg allowance for check in and 7 kg for hand carry luggage. Actually I did not bring much in way of personal items and I was planning to travel back to Singapore with a suitcase full of mangoes [which I did – big Indian fibre-less ones!!]
The day before I flew, I met with a dear Pastor friend who said he has lots of chocolates and asked if I wanted any. I thought perhaps 10 packs or bars….. He asked me how many kilos – 10 kilos? I was awestruck but did not think I could manage 10 kg. I asked for 6 kg. To which, he replied ‘to the measure of your faith, it shall be’
I do not have a weighing machine at home and I was in such a hurry, so with lots of prayers, I distributed the chocolate between the check in and hand carry luggage And….my check in luggage was a little under the 15 kg limit and my carry on was a little over the 7 kg limit. Phew, you can see the relief on my face when i cleared the limits!!!! I felt like skipping around the airport at that time, yelling ‘Thank you God’!
While having my ‘budget-airport’ dinner, I suddenly realised that I forgot to pack my reading glasses and the key to the new padlock for my luggage! Ah well, I knew age is catching up and decided to deal with the missing items in Bangalore instead of being anxious. A magnifying glass to read my work documents [tiny fonts], I did get in Bangalore, after straining my eyes for days. The padlock was removed by force at 1 am upon my arrival at my host’s place in Bangalore.
Upon my return, I found 3 of my money plant somehow stayed not only alive, but beautiful without water for 2 weeks!!!
Talk about the providence of God….
