In the days before computers, typically the eyes will lead the hands / legs….
Today, in the computer era, with all the interaction sophistication, I am wondering if it is the finger [arms and legs] that lead the eye – a question for cognitive science….
A friend recently recounted ‘interaction design’ was a new concept in India back in mid 90s. Then ‘user friendliness’, he said, was the idea that at the ATM, you gave your card [document?] to an old man who then pushes some buttons and literally physically hand you the money.
That is a great definition for user friendliness indeed.
