Feedback…

Feedback is an interesting word.

In the context of homeostasis, positive / negative feedback is an important part of our internal regulation.

Any form of regulation [governance] would need feedback to provide the cause and effect details.

Feedback is also highly critical in our learning and growing experiences.

I was watching a 3-year old responding to his aunt the other day. He was shy and non-responsible at first when he arrived at his grandma’s home.  His aunt had 2 items to give him and wanted to hear him say ‘Ah Yee’ – a local term for Aunty. He would not respond at first though he was eyeing the goodies.

However, it was not the goodies that motivated him to respond. It was Aunty’s silly reaction when he called out that energised him. He kept calling out ‘Ah Yee’ loudly because each time Aunty acted silly in response. He was enjoying the feedback and used his action to get the feedback – Aunty gladly gave him the response.

That was a action – reaction loop being reinforced and he felt ‘rewarded’.

As adults, we are no different. We can be conditioned by responses to our actions.

Quotations:

God starts us out on a life course to fulfill a certain purpose and then, only when we are ready, He gives us course corrections. Like a good river pilot, He steers us away from troubled waters, and like a good coach, He never puts us in the game until we are ready. The journey is never boring.

REMEMBER THIS ABOUT YOU...

Read this out loud to yourself, and mean it!!

I am precious, valuable, lovable and capable.
The world will not be the same without me.
I make a difference in this world, in the community I live in.
I can make another person smile.
I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
I sing for I am loved by a great God whose nature is to give  love, mercy and grace.

  [In Hindi]
  Mai amulya hoon.
Yeh duniya mayray bina wahi nahin rahegi.
Mayray hone say is duniya mein kuch badlav hai.
Mujh se doosre ke chahre pay muskuraahat aati hai.
Mujhe bhayankar se banaya gaya hai.
Mujhe gaana hai ki ek mahaan; ishwhar mujhe pyaar karte.
Hain aur mayray prati daya dikhaate hain.
