When asked what do our daily activities lead to, what end goal do they lead to, what might our answer be?
So let’s attempt to calibrate some tasks to see where they lead. Can you guess the job of the person or role of the person in each of the following tasks?
Psychomotor example:
- turn a screw
- assemble a wheel
- fine tune brakes
- ensure stability on 2 wheels
- allow safe travel using pedal power efficiently
Cognitive / Affective example:
- share a thought
- discuss pros / cons
- differentiate between true / false
- describe a task
- explain learning
- apply the principles of adult learning to design a 10 min presentation
- impact the performance of content designer
Depending on our mindset and thoughts, we might only see ourselves as, and therefore behave like, a pawn on the chessboard, following the routine assigned to us. We do not see how our routine is part of a bigger value proposition to our customers / loved ones. We divorce ourselves from our passion and we reduce our daily tasks to a mechanical step by step responsibility.
The bicycle shop salesperson can choose to be a lifestyle or health advisor / consultant or a mere representative of the shop, giving the bare minimal attention, out of obligation.
The sales team of a company can also be functioning at the level of daily tasks, or when well inspired and led be functioning at the level of syndicated value to the customer, in accordance with the vision of the company.
How are you placed?
