Many people know about and practise goal setting. There are loads of literature on goal setting.
In my Learning Solutions Workshop, I differentiate between a goal statement and learning objectives.
A goal statement reflects the outcome from the organisation’s perspective while learning objectives must reflect the behaviours expected of the learners after the lesson.
Similarly, after we have written our life goal statements, we need to examine the intent. If the ‘goal’ can be accomplished within a single-event action within a very short time [ie limited shelf life], then it is more likely a task than a goal.
A vision is ideally for a life-time [at least for longer term]. There may be multiple goals, which change / evolve, to realise the vision.
To arrive at the goals, I must reflect on my passion, motivation, etc. With the goals, I will seek out the learning [learning objectives] I need.
A well written vision and goal statements will help me to move closer to the eulogy I desire.
